Dr. Justyn Smith

Dr. Justyn Smith is a licensed professional counselor supervisor, counselor educator, and consultant with over a decade of experience in counseling, clinical supervision, and higher education. His work across community health agencies, psychiatric hospitals, nonprofits, college counseling centers, and private practice has provided him with a systems-level understanding of how mental health care operates across diverse community settings. He specializes in helping organizations expand access to care through the development of internship-based counseling programs that strengthen clinical capacity, support student training, and increase the availability of affordable mental health services.
Dr. Smith currently serves as the Senior Lead Clinical Therapist & Internship and Research Program Head at Heights Family Counseling, a prominent private practice in Houston, Texas, where he developed and oversees a highly regarded internship program known for its strong supervision and support for student development. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of St. Thomas, and incoming Clinical Specialist in Counselor Education at The College of New Jersey, where he teaches and mentors future counselors in the foundations of therapy, advanced clinical techniques, and graduate-level practicum and internship training.
As the founder of Smith Internship Consulting, Dr. Smith integrates clinical expertise, counselor development, and organizational strategy to help schools, nonprofits, and community health agencies build scalable training programs that expand access to care while strengthening the next generation of mental health professionals.
